福岡県柳川市。川下りなどの観光業でにぎわう城下町の川沿いメインストリートに、家族で花屋を営み50年になる、カネキン生花店はあった。花屋の半分を、母がずっと夢見てきた喫茶店にしたい。町の人たちも、観光に来た人も、気軽に寄れるお店にしたい。華道教室や、料理教室など、体験ができる場所でもありたい。そのすべての想いを叶える、喫茶店の空間デザインを担当。城下町の蔵をイメージし、やわらかい光が店全体にまわるよう、白壁を工夫した。明るくカジュアルな店内の雰囲気は、若者にも人気。花と親しめる喫茶店ができあがった。

Yanagawa city, Fukuoka Prefecture. The Kanekin florist, a family-run shop for over 50 years, was located on the main street along the river of the castle town bustling with sightseeing on boats down the river. “I want to convert half of the florist into a coffee shop that my mother has always dreamed of. I want to make a shop where locals and tourists can easily stop by. I also want to create a space for experiences, including for flower arrangement classes and culinary classes.” We managed the coffee shop space design that fulfilled all of these hopes. We used white walls in the design in the image of storehouses in castle towns so that soft light can illuminate the entire shop. The bright and casual store atmosphere is popular with youths as well. We were able to create a coffee shop that can interact with flowers.
